Sovata - Secret of health, miracle of nature

formula 1

Transylvania, the land "beyond the forests"
In the middle of Romania, Transylvania attracts with high-roofed wooden churches, exceptional architecture and folk art, medieval towns, mysterious castles and a troubled history.
This territory features splendid mountains, beautiful rolling hills, fertile plains and numerous rivers and lakes. You will be seduced by the countless beauty and wonders, forested peaks, sweet waved valleys and sparkling streams of the Salt Land.

The salty spa of Romania

Romania is home to more than one third of Europe’s mineral and thermal springs. Natural factors are complemented - under attentive medical care - by physiotherapy, acupuncture, electrotherapy and medicines produced from plants.
Romania’s main spas include Sovata that lies at a height of 500 metres above sea level, in the heart of a region called Salt Land, situated at the western feet of the Harghita Mountains. The spa's pride, Lake Bear - created by an unusual act of nature in 1875 - is heliothermal (heated by sunlight) and its mud and exceptionally high salt content are the basis for the medical treatments.
The unique natural features combined with appropriate medical service in Sovata can successfully cure a number of diseases, including gynaecological symptoms and locomotor diseases. The atmosphere of the spa town with its unique wooden architecture and folk art has also attracted visitors from all corners of Europe. Sovata offers opportunities for relaxation in all seasons, including bathing, boat riding, angling, hunting, skiing and hiking. In addition to Bear Lake, there are four smaller lakes in the area: Nut Lake, Black Lake, Red Lake and Green Lake.
