The renovations
at the Danubius Grand Hotel Margitsziget have been completed:
the hotel and a very proud staff can now welcome guests with
new furnishings, perfectly harmonised in colour and texture.
Founded in 1873, this well-established hotel is the very same
age as the city of Budapest, created out of a merger of the
towns of Buda, Óbuda and Pest in that year. After this
full-scale refurbishment, the hotel now basks in all its former
glory.
Already popular and fashionable at the
beginning of the 1900s. the Grand Hotel Margitsziget has now regained
its old splendour and elegance after years of discreet renovation.
The result speaks for itself: the hotel now combines the restrained
luxury of the early 1900s with all the technical facilities appropriate
to the threshold of the third millennium. It is no exaggeration to
say that Grand Hotel is now one of Budapest's most beautiful and
elegant hotels.
This
is due to the renovated interiors, the magnificent enlarged bathrooms,
and new furnishings. All the large rooms are air-conditioned
and stylishly furnished, some in a dominant claret, others in
deep blue. The sense of luxury is enhanced by the inclusion of
two double beds in rooms, an idea taken from America. All the
furnishings in the eight suites and the two presidential suites
guarantee exceptional comfort, with the help of a large desk,
separate rest rooms and comfortable armchairs. Some of the rooms
are exclusively for non-smokers, some are arranged to enable
access for wheelchairs.
A mini business centre has been set up next to the reception area, and PCs can
be placed in rooms on request. The Grand Hotel has always been, and still is,
a mecca for gourmets. The dark-blue tones in the elegant restaurant set off the
masterful dishes, both Hungarian and international. There is an English-style
pub, a wine-bar and a grill terrace open during the summer months, where guests
can now also enjoy new services, such as a Family Brunch and a Terrace Menu.
The conference rooms have been in constant use ever since they were completed
and have a capacity for several hundred people. In addition to all these services,
it should be noted that the hotel is on Margaret Island, where the thermal waters
work wonders. A series of therapeutic treatments are based on this water in the
neighbouring Danubius Thermal Hotel Margitsziget. These are also available to
all the guests of the Grand Hotel, who have access to Thermal Hotel's treatment
centre by means of an underground passageway.
